Marseille may be jaded after Benfica battles

Marseille may be simply too good for Toulouse when the two sides meet in round three of Ligue 1 action on Saturday. Les Phoceens have hit the ground running this term with seven goals scored already and a 5-1 thrashing doled out to Brest on the opening weekend.

Toulouse have drawn their opening two fixtures and looked somewhat less potent in attack, although they were denied a win against Nantes by a brilliant goalkeeping performance from Alban Lafont.

Les Violets did finish strongly in a 1-1 draw at Nice last weekend, but Marseille’s attacking style looks light years beyond anything Les Aiglons can muster right now.

Toulouse can take at least a point

Mason Greenwood is making headlines for the right reasons in France and Roberto de Zerbi’s ideas appear to be coming across well at this early stage of the campaign.

They remain untidy in defence, however so expectations for a win with a clean sheet should be parked at the door of Stadium de Toulouse. But Marseille’s ability to play through the thirds and create chances makes them an exciting watch at the moment.
