Troyes vs St Etienne Predictions

Stalemate expected

Troyes find themselves four points above St Etienne coming into this fixture as they sit in 14th but they are just one point above the relegation zone and will be hoping to get back on the winning trail after a heavy 4-0 defeat to Lens before the international break.

The hosts are unbeaten in four home matches but three of those have ended in a draw and that’s the outcome I’m predicting here. Only bottom of the table Metz have taken fewer points from their home fixtures this campaign than Troyes but they have lost just two of their six matches which were against Monaco and PSG.

St Etienne don’t seem as if they can have the same joy with their defence being the worst in the league at this early stage. They are conceding over two goals per game on average and have taken just two points on the road this term, the worst away record in the division.

It has been a terrible start for the relatively steady Ligue 1 outfit with talk of a takeover off the field clearly distracting the players. However, hope was rekindled as they picked up their first win of the season with a 3-2 win at home to Clermont prior to the international break.

It’s a tough one to call with two teams struggling to carve out victories so a draw seems the most likely result here and we’re predicting 1-1 in the correct score market.
