Away woes should trouble Augsburg

Hoffenheim are the best bet when they host Augsburg on Saturday. The visitors have lost five of their last seven away games in the Bundesliga.

They are six places above Augsburg in the table, with a ten-point gap between the two sides. The hosts are seventh with six wins, two draws and three losses, while Augsburg sit 13th having won three, drawn once and lost seven.

It would be a surprise if Hoffenheim failed to score, having found the net at least three times in four of their last five Bundesliga games. They have also scored in 17 of their last 19 league matches.

Hoffenheim have gone unbeaten in seven of the last eight Bundesliga head-to-head meetings with Augsburg and have won four of their last five league matches. They have also enjoyed two straight successes at home.

The visitors’ recent away record is a concern. Augsburg have failed to win any of their last six on the road in the Bundesliga, and three of their last four matches have ended in defeat.

The visitors have been defensively vulnerable of late, with Augsburg failing to keep a clean sheet in 17 of their last 19 Bundesliga games. They have conceded on each of their five away days this season.

A 2-0 home win for Hoffenheim looks the best correct-score bet. Five of the last six Bundesliga meetings between these sides have finished with under 2.5 goals and three of Hoffenheim’s six wins this season have been by a two-goal margin.
