Union Berlin vs Eintracht Braunschweig Predictions

Union Berlin versus Eintracht Braunschweig has given viewers plenty of value for money in recent years. Over the last twelve encounters between them a massive 39 goals, an average of 3.25 per match, have been scored. If the current forms of Union and Eintracht are anything to go by, we should expect to see more of the same here.

Union Berlin head into this off the back of a 1-0 win away to the in-form Sandhausen last weekend. Midfielder Felix Kroos, the younger brother of German national team and Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos, got himself on the score-sheet for the first time this season, scoring their only goal. Meanwhile, Braunschweig’s 2-1 win at home to strugglers 1860 Munich saw them hold their one point lead above 2nd place VfB Stuttgart at the top of the Bundesliga 2. Forward Dominick Kumbela (9 goals in 14 appearances), the 3rd top scorer in the German second tier, marked his third in four matches. He could be a decent shout for an anytime goalscorer here (odds to follow).

Union Berlin are slight favourites at home to league leaders Eintracht Braunschweig ahead of this match at 7/5. While we also fancy the host’s chances here (see below), we feel that both teams to score at 4/6 has to be about the safest bet available. Historic trends give us a decent base off of which to set the tip – both teams have scored in three of the last four matches between Union Berlin and Braunschweig (75%). However, Braunschweig’s recent slip in form has seen their defensive work suffer more frequently than not. Consequently, both teams have scored in all of their last four Bundesliga 2 matches.

Notably, though Braunschweig thrive at the Eintracht-Stadion, winning all but one of their eight home matches so far (W7 D1), their form on the road has also taken a turn for the worse in recent weeks. Braunschweig have taken just two points from their last four away matches (D2 L2) and Union Berlin’s strong home form – Union have lost just one match at home in 2016 (W10 D2 L1) – will no doubt add to this pressure. For those who feel like a more ambitious bet, Union Berlin to win and both teams to score at 7/2 would be a viable option following off the above. With regards to a correct score bet, we feel that Union Berlin should nip the win in a match with a few goals. As such, Union Berlin to win 2-1 at 17/2 seems a decent shout.
