Eintracht Frankfurt to Win

Reason for tip

Union Berlin are winless in their last five league games, including back-to-back defeats. Although, Frankfurt have gone eight matches without a victory in all competitions, the appointment of new coach Albert Riera this week should have them back on their toes and winning again soon.

Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1

Reason for tip

Eintracht Frankfurt have the attacking potential to score a couple of goals at Stadion An der Alten Försterei. But they have been shipping goals far too regularly and are unlikely to keep a clean sheet. If they win, it will be because of their ability to outscore Union, so take a 2-1 correct score play.

Union aiming to avoid third straight loss

Two teams that have lost touch with the Europe-chasing top-six in the Bundesliga meet on Friday with Eintracht Frankfurt hoping to start afresh against Union Berlin under new coach Albert Riera.

Both clubs have gone weeks without a Bundesliga win with Union losing back-to-back clashes against high-flying Hoffenheim and Dortmund in the past couple. Their home form is mixed too, with three wins, four draws and three losses at the Alte Försterei.

Frankfurt’s situation is arguably more bleak, which is why they pulled the plug on Dino Toppmoller’s reign and brought in Riera from Celje.

Frankfurt will be on their toes after Toppmoller dismissal

Rumours that Toppmoller was too soft on his players are perhaps borne out by a woeful defensive record that has seen them concede 45 goals, joint-worst in the table alongside bottom club Heidenheim.

Away from home, they’ve been unpredictable with three wins, four draws and three losses. But the head-to-head leans their way and Riera’s reputation could get them back on track soon.

Frankfurt’s attacking potential remains high, and a coaching bounce under Riera feels plausible so back the visitors to win with a 2-1 angle in correct score betting.
