Union Berlin vs Schalke Predictions
- Union Berlin have failed to win five of their last six home league games
- Schalke held Bayern Munich to a 0-0 draw last weekend
- Both teams have scored in five of Union Berlin’s last six home Bundesliga matches
- Both teams have scored in five of the last seven head-to-head meetings
Union took a step back in Leverkusen
Union Berlin and Schalke are primed to produce a tense Bundesliga encounter on Friday night, with both looking to kickstart their faltering campaigns.
Union Berlin began the season in chaotic fashion, drawing 3‑3 with Eintracht Frankfurt after roaring back from 1‑3 down at the Alte Forsterei. Any positives they took from that match evaporated in last weekend’s 4‑0 collapse at Bayer Leverkusen.
And with Oliver Burke, Andrej Ilic, Kastriot Imeri, Marvin Friedrich and Stanley N’Soki all sidelined, they may struggle to claim all three points in this one.
Both teams can score in Berlin
Meanwhile, Schalke arrive with renewed belief after producing one of the shock results of the season – a 0‑0 draw against Bayern Munich. Veteran goalkeeper Loris Karius was outstanding, and the Royal Blues defended with a compactness rarely seen in recent years. They even threatened on the break, with Moussa Sylla stretching Bayern’s back line.
Ron Schallenberg remains suspended, but Kenan Karaman returned last weekend and should offer an extra attacking option late on.
This feels like a tight, cagey matchup. Union Berlin are stronger at home but were badly exposed last weekend, while Schalke’s confidence after shutting out the champions cannot be ignored. Both teams have shown enough attacking spark to get on the scoresheet, and neither has kept a clean sheet outside of Schalke’s battling draw with Bayern.
