      Reason for tip

Antwerp enter this clash hot on the tails of Union SG. The visitors defeated league leaders Genk in a recent cup clash and can give the hosts a run for their money here too.

      Antwerp 3-2

      Reason for tip

Antwerp have conceded at least twice in three of their last four away games so if they are to get a result here, they may need a hatful of goals themselves.

Union Saint Gilloise vs Antwerp Predictions

      • Antwerp have lost just one of the last ten H2H encounters.
      • Antwerp head into this on the back of an away win at league leaders, Genk.
      • Royale Union SG have picked up less than half of their points at home.

      The pick of the bunch

Although Club Brugge play Anderlecht earlier in the day, it is Royale Union SG vs Antwerp that is the pick of the matches in Belgium as second meets third in a potentially pivotal clash in terms of the title race.

Union SG are seven points off the title pace ahead of this round but they can keep the pressure on league leaders Genk if only they can extend their six-game competitive unbeaten streak alive with another victory.

Providing the opposition is Mark van Bommel’s Antwerp, just three points behind Union SG, the visitors may well fancy their chances of upsetting the odds after going unbeaten in eight of the last nine encounters between the sides.

Back the visitors to spring a surprise

Antwerp rarely keep a clean sheet on their travels, in fact with just one across their last seven games, it’s unthinkable that they’ll shut out one of the league’s strongest sides here in Brussels.

However, Antwerp are no pushovers themselves and have one of the strongest away records in the division (W4, D2, L3), so we’re willing to take a chance on the upset in the draw no bet market, as a mark of respect to the quality of the title-chasing hosts.

To complete our selections, we’re going for an exciting 3-2 pick in favour of van Bommel’s men for smaller stakes, a result which would fit in nicely with the high-scoring trend in Union SG’s league games (3.4 per-match on average).
