Venezia vs Juventus Predictions

• Juventus have won each of their last three games without conceding, and won to nil five times in their last seven matches.
• Venezia have lost their last three games, conceding 10 goals.
• Only Salernitana have scored fewer than Venezia’s 15 league goals, or created fewer expected goals than the Venice club.

Solid Juve coming good?

Despite still having scored fewer goals than any other team in the top half, Juve’s form has improved over recent weeks; they’ve won five of their last seven in all competitions, and four of five in Serie A, with all of their recent victories coming to nil.

Having beaten Chelsea to top spot in their Champions League group on Wednesday night, the Old Lady remain seven points adrift of a spot in next season’s competition, but should continue their resurgence when they travel to the floating city on Saturday evening. The likes of Juan Cuadrado, Giorgio Chiellini, Alvaro Morata and Manuel Locatelli were all rested in midweek, and will be fresh for a return to league action.

Venezia are still five clear of trouble, but somehow squandered a 3-0 lead in less than 45 minutes on their last outing, to lose 4-3 at home to Verona. Shock wins over Fiorentina and Roma, in October and November, respectively, remain their only home wins this term, and only Salernitana, bottom with just eight points, have scored fewer goals and created fewer expected goals than Paolo Zanetti’s team.

Old Lady’s defence in fine form

Juventus have the third-best defensive record in Serie A, after title-chasing Inter and Napoli, and only the Naples club have conceded fewer on the road. Only the current top four can better Juve’s points return on their travels, and Juventus to win to nil has been a winning tip for each of their last three outings.

With Venezia also managing fewer shots than any Serie A team, and Max Allegri having been able to rest a select group of stars in midweek, I’m confidently backing the visitors to repeat the trick again on Saturday, with a 2-0 Juventus victory seeming a strong correct score prediction.
