Lecce’s six-game unbeaten run has lifted them 11 points clear of the relegation zone, though Marco Baroni’s men may ultimately feel disappointed not to have beaten champions Milan last time out, throwing away a two-goal lead in an entertaining draw against Milan. On Saturday, I Lupi head to 18^th-placed Verona. While the Gialloblu will hope to narrow the gap to any other potential strugglers with a win, Lecce should be heavily fancied to add to their misery.

Verona have lost 11 of their last 13 Serie A games, and while Marco Zaffaroni’s side have taken four points since the World Cup break, they have only beaten Cremonese – Serie A’s only winless team – since early September. Verona appear to be sleepwalking towards relegation, with their dire defensive record to blame. The hosts have conceded multiple goals in nine of their last 13 matches, and no Serie A team has conceded more than their 17 goals against at home.

Lecce, on the other hand, have been revitalised since October, winning three and drawing three of their last six league games. Impressively, Serie A’s most shot-shy team have won the expected goals (xG) battle in each of their three games since the World Cup, while their tally of eight goals in their last five outings is more than they managed in their previous nine (seven).

Visitors worth backing, but beware the draw

With Verona losing seven of their nine home league games this season and Lecce looking hard to beat of late, punters will want to be on Lecce’s side on Saturday – though they should beware the draw with Baroni’s team managing a league-high eight stalemates this campaign.

While Lecce on the draw no bet market is our main selection, a 1-0 away win could represent a solid correct score prediction – only four teams, all of them in the top seven, have conceded fewer Serie A goals than Lecce’s 20 this season.
