Vitesse vs Roda JC Betting Tips

Vitesse Arnhem are not a well-known Dutch Eredivisie club. They were actually probably put on the map by their Europa League drubbing at the hands of Southampton. It’s worth noting though that this team finished fifth last year and beat Feyenoord to secure qualification to the Europa League competition.

They’re an entertaining side and scored 66 goals in the Eredivisie last season. Manager Peter Bosz likes to line-up a 4-3-3 formation with Brown and Oliynyk playing the two wide roles. They’ll look to push forward, but they didn’t manage to have much of an impact against Southampton and they struggled against Willem II as well.

The trouble with betting on Vitesse early in 2015-16 is that it isn’t easy to figure out where this club is right now. They’ve lost midfielders Davy Propper and Bertrand Traore, who combined for 41 clubs goals last season. A lot of this team’s attacking creativity was generated in midfield, but Propper now plays for PSV Eindhoven and Traore is at Chelsea.

Roda JC returned to the top flight with a pretty good result beating Heracles 3-1 in their opening game. Gyasi, van Hyfte and Falk scored the goals in front of a jubilant home crowd. It was a telling result against a side that just about beat the drop last season, Roda JC will have Eredivisie survival firmly in their minds as the #1 goal.

One thing that was made clear in that opening game is that this is a team that plans to attack. They won’t sit back, at least not on their own field, and they have some potency going forward. Vitesse possess more experience and won’t be easy to break, they will also be desperate to get their season off the ground with a win.

The odds are understandably stacked in Vitesse’s favour. They are heavy favourites and our betting tips anticipate that Vitesse will get the win. However, the handicap betting gives Roda JC two goals and based on their promising opening performances and some of the identity challenges for Vitesse, this is a game that’s calling out to back a spirited performance from Roda JC to keep it at least close.
