VVV Venlo vs NAC Breda Predictions
A run of three games unbeaten has lifted VVV into seventh place in the Eredivisie with five games played, while this weekends visitors Breda have lost their last three games and sit second from bottom on three points. Both of these teams have struggled somewhat to score goals this season, with VVV netting five goals in their five games and Breda scoring just four times, but the hosts defence has been very strong while the visitors have been leaking goals.
A strong first half display from VVV proved enough for the Venlo club to pick up three points from their trip to newly promoted De Graafschap last weekend. Sušić got the ball rolling with a sixth minute goal that appeared to knock the wind right out of the hosts sails, and when Post doubled the visitors lead on the half hour mark the writing was on the wall for the home side.
De Graafschap saw more of the ball overall, but saw far too many of their shots fail to hit the target. Burgzorg did eventually pull one goal back for the hosts in the eighty-ninth minute, but there wasn’t enough time for De Graafschap to test the VVV defence further and the visitors held on to secure three more points.
Both Post and Sušić moved onto two goals each for the season after last weekends win, but with Joosten the only other player to have scored for VVV this season their are concerns as to whether or not Saturday’s hosts have enough goals in them to maintain a top half finish.
There was no shortage of goals when Breda played host to newly promoted Fortuna Sittard last weekend, but this five-goal thriller ended with the visitors claiming an unexpected first win of the season.
The day started brightly for Breda thanks to a fourth minute opening goal from te Vrede, but a strike either side of half time from Messaoudi saw Fortuna Sittard take the lead. The hosts responded well and were back on level terms in the seventy-first minute through Kastaneer and looked the more likely team to go on and claim all three points.
However, Fortuna Sittard had other ideas and an eighty-first minute strike from Ňinaj proved to be enough for the visitors to claim their first win of the season against one of their expected relegation rivals. Breda need to respond with a strong defensive display on Saturday as their defence has already let in fourteen goals in their opening five matches, which if it continues will surely lead to relegation.
Breda have scored more goals than VVV in the opening five games of the season and that will give them some belief that they can pull off an unexpected result this weekend, but last season Breda failed to score against VVV home or away which could be cause for concern.
We’re confident that VVV will win to nil on Saturday and that the final score will read 1-0 to the hosts. In four of the last five meetings between these two clubs, VVV have kept a clean sheet, while Breda have managed just one clean sheet so far this season and failed to score in two of their five Eredivisie games. VVV have only failed to score in one of their five league games this season and four of their matches have ended with under 2.5 goals being scored, and we’re backing this game to be low scoring as well.
