Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Latvia have enjoyed a fine run of at least scoring in games and they should be able to leave a mark in what looks like a very tough game for the minnows.

Wales 3-1

Reason for tip

Wales haven’t won any of their last nine games but they should be able to stop that rot here against minnows Latvia.

Wales vs Latvia Predictions

  • Wales have no clean sheets across their last ten internationals.
  • Latvia have found the net in each of their last six away internationals.
  • Latvia have managed to score against formidable nations such as Turkey and Germany in recent years.

Wales look for their first win in a new era

It was a positive start to life after Gareth Bale for Wales last time out as Nathan Broadhead scored on his international debut to snatch a draw at the death against Croatia. Even so, Wales are without a win across their last nine games and will see this as a must win if they have any hopes of qualifying for EURO 2024.

The only previous encounter between these nations ended in a 2-0 win for Wales, although that was way back in 2004. More recently, Wales have struggled to keep sides from scoring against them as shown in their current nine-game run without a clean sheet.

On the other hand, Latvia are rightful outsiders given their lowly ranking and failure to qualify for any major tournament since Euro 2004, although they have at least gave it a good go in terms of scoring recently.

Going for goals

Latvia are enjoying a run of six straight away games without failing to score and with goals away to Germany (7-1 L), Turkey (3-3 D) and Ireland (3-2 L) in their most recent away game, they may well be able to breach Wales’ backline.

There’s simply no value in backing Wales to win this game and whilst we think they will, we’re going to take a chance on a BTTS – yes selection at a rather attractive price. However, we will stick with the Welsh to come up with an easy 3-1 win for smaller stakes in the correct score market.
