West Bromwich Albion Double Chance (Win or Draw)

Reason for tip

There is a four-way battle to finish second in the Championship and Ipswich may struggle to cling on to second place in this tricky trip to the Hawthorns. The Tractors Boys are ahead of the chasing pack only on goal difference and the pressure is on with two games remaining. Any slip up could be terminal with Millwall, Southampton and Middlesbrough all waiting to pounce. The Suffolk side don’t have a great record at this venue and they may not have things all their own way once more.

West Bromwich Albion 2-1

Reason for tip

West Brom secured their survival several weeks ago and they have gone from strength to strength with the pressure off. Albion are unbeaten in nine matches, winning four times and they can at the very least avoid defeat on Saturday. James Morrison’s men have kept four straight clean sheets, and although they may not be able to hold out against Ipswich, they could limit their visitors to just one goal.

West Bromwich Albion vs Ipswich Predictions

  • West Brom are unbeaten in their last nine league matches
  • The Baggies have kept four straight clean sheets
  • Ipswich haven’t won at the Hawthorns since 1999

Baggies finishing with a flourish

West Brom looked doomed to the drop for quite a while this season but having secured their Championship place for next term they have gone through the gears with the pressure off.

The Baggies unbeaten run stands at nine and we predict that they can extend that sequence on Saturday by at the very least avoiding defeat to promotion-chasing Ipswich.

All the pressure is on the Suffolk side who occupy second spot going into this penultimate round of fixtures, but they are there only on goal difference and the chasing pack of Millwall, Southampton and Middlesbrough are all waiting to pounce should the Tractor Boys stall once again.

And there is a chance Ipswich could come up short as they have not won at the Hawthorns since 1999, and they face a West Brom enjoying their football again with the threat of relegation averted.

Tractor Boys struggling for traction on the road

Ipswich have two games to seal their Premier League return but they have been let down by their away form this term and they may fall short once again in the Midlands.

Kieran McKenna’s men have won just nine of their 21 away league fixtures this season and they had to work hard to see off Charlton at the Valley on Wednesday.

West Brom have had an extra day to prepare for this clash following their 3-0 hammering of Watford on Tuesday, and that may be enough to see them frustrate Ipswich.

A fifth straight clean sheet may prove beyond the Baggies, but it would be no surprise to see them run out 2-1 winners.
