West Bromwich Albion vs Manchester City Predictions
- Man City have won their last six Premier League games
- The visitors have kept five clean sheets in that run
- City have won 11 of their 13 clashes against sides outside the top seven
- West Brom have lost their last three home games to nil
Can Big Sam match Bilic?
The meeting of Big Sam and Pep Guardiola is a true clash of Premier League styles. The former England boss is taking on possibly his toughest job yet, with the Baggies losing 12 of 19 games to sit six points from safety.
Despite that, Slaven Bilic was able to hold off City at the Etihad just before receiving his marching orders. While Allardyce has managed to guide West Brom to a point at Anfield, they face a mammoth task in this midweek encounter.
City on a roll
Since their slip up against West Brom, City have been utterly faultless. The visitors have won each of their last six Premier League games to move within two points of top spot with a game in hand. City have kept five clean sheets in those six wins, with their defence looking impressive.
The visitors have won their last 10 games on the spin in all competitions and they are heavy favourites to keep the good form going. They have recorded 11 wins in their 13 league games against sides outside the top seven, so facing second-bottom West Brom doesn’t seem like an issue for the Citizens.
City’s stellar defence
As we mentioned, City have keep keeping clean sheets consistently of late. They have the best defensive record in the league, while West Brom have lost their last three home games to nil going into this clash.
We don’t see West Brom pulling any surprises here, the only time Pep Guardiola has failed to beat a newly promoted team either home or away in a season was against Middlesbrough in 2016-17. City are looking great at the back and we’re backing that to continue in our predictions as we’re going with City to win to nil.
West Brom have conceded 24 goals in nine Premier League home games this season, more than any other side in the division. They’ve let in at least three in each of their last four here and we’re backing City to keep that run going, with a 3-0 away win our correct score prediction.
West Brom injuries and team news
Matt Philips remains out with COVID-19, while Karlan Grant, Grady Diangana and Conor Townsend are all absentees.
Man City injuries and team news
Kevin De Bruyne will miss at least a month for City, while the visitors head here without Sergio Aguero who is in quarantine.
