West Bromwich Albion vs Manchester United Predictions
- West Brom have taken four points from their last eight games
- Manchester United have won eight of 11 away games this season
- All but one of West Brom’s home defeats have been by two goals or more
- The Baggies have suffered defeats by three goals or more in five of their last six at home
West Brom drifting towards the cliff-edge
West Brom have the Premier League’s worst record over the last eight games, with the Baggies claiming just four points from the last 24 available. We’re backing that terrible record to continue against Man City’s closest challengers.
Manchester United have been tested twice at Old Trafford since their 9-0 win over Southampton. They dropped two points against Everton before needing extra-time to eliminate West Ham from the FA Cup. However, expect them to breeze past a West Brom side who are 11 points off safety.
Ole’s Road Warriors
While United are fresh from poor results at Old Trafford, their fortunes have been much better on the road this term. All four of their league defeats have come at home, with the Red Devils winning eight of 11 trips and claiming more points per away game than any other Premier League side.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have struck 24 goals in those 11 matches on their travels and they should build on that against the league’s worst defence.
United to show gulf in class
United pit their impressive away record against a West Brom side who have fewer points at home than anyone else in the division. A quick look back over West Brom’s recent outings at the Hawthorns doesn’t make for good reading. In their last six, the Baggies have lost 5-0 to City and Leeds, 5-1 to Crystal Palace, 4-0 to Arsenal and 3-0 to Aston Villa.
West Brom have lost seven of 11 at home this term and just one of those defeats came by a single-goal margin. With Manchester United in great scoring form on the road we expect them to cover a -1 handicap in this clash, while we’re also backing a 4-0 away win as our second prediction.
Bruno Fernandes averages a goal or assist once every 84 minutes in the Premier League, which is the best ratio of the 1685 players with at least five goal involvements in the competition’s history. The Portuguese midfielder tends to excel on the road, so he’s our anytime goalscorer prediction against a flimsy West Brom defence.
