West Ham United vs Eintracht Frankfurt Predictions

  • Both teams to score has been a winning bet in five of West Ham’s last seven home games.
  • The Hammers have only failed to score in two of their home games across all competitions.
  • Frankfurt have scored in 12 of their last 15 away games.
  • West Ham are unbeaten in their last eight home games.

Hammers continue quest for Europa glory

West Ham and Eintracht Frankfurt face off in the first leg of what could be a fiercely competitive Europa League semi-final at the London Stadium on Thursday, but both head into the game in mixed form.

The Hammers have just one win in their last five games across all competitions, while Frankfurt have picked up just one win in their last nine – although they have drawn six of those games.

Both sides have a few notable absentees as Kurt Zouma remains unavailable for the Hammers due to an ankle issue, while Frankfurt are without suspended pair Kristijan Jakic and Obite N’Dicka.

Home advantage may just swing this game in West Ham’s favour but Frankfurt can’t be underestimated after their win at Barcelona in the previous round. I’m also inclined to think both sides have been saving themselves a bit for this tie given just how much is at stake, so rather than go for a match result the goals markets look the best option for our main bet and both teams to score looks a solid option.

Both teams capable of scoring

West Ham drew a blank in a 1-0 defeat at Chelsea last time out but it is hard to see them failing to score at least once on Thursday.

The Hammers have only failed to score in two of their home games in all competitions this season, against Manchester City in the EFL Cup (in a tie they won on penalties) and against Dynamo Zagreb in this competition when they had already qualified as group winners.

Both teams to score has been a winning bet in five of West Ham’s last seven home games and Frankfurt should be able to get on the scoresheet themselves.

There have been goals at both ends in four of the German side’s last five games and they have only failed to score in three of their last 15 away from home.

Rice has scorer potential

West Ham are unbeaten in their last eight at home and will be looking to make the most of their home advantage in the first leg, so a 2-1 win for the Premier League side looks a reasonable option in the correct score market.

The Hammers have scored exactly two goals in four of their last seven home wins, and surprisingly haven’t score more than twice in any home game since beating Chelsea 3-2 at the start of December.

Declan Rice looks a good option for anyone looking for a big price anytime goalscorer option. The midfielder has only managed one Premier League goal but has been more potent in Europe with three in eight games, and he has four goals in 12 appearances in all cup competitions this season.

West Ham predicted lineup: Areola; Johnson, Dawson, Cresswell, Coufal, Soucek, Rice, Masuaku, Fornals, Antonio, Bowen

Eintracht Frankfurt predicted lineup: Trapp, Tuta, Hinteregger, Hasebe, Knauff, Sow, Rode, Kostic, Kamada, Lindstrom, Borre
