Wolves vs Sheffield Wednesday Predictions
The Owls secured a top six finish in style last weekend with a 3-0 win over closest rivals Cardiff at Hillsborough. They will be back on their own patch next week to face either Middlesbrough or Brighton in the 1st Leg of a Championship play-off semi-final so to some extent this game isn’t that important although they’d like to go into that game with a solid result and performance. Wednesday have only lost 1 of their last 10 matches so they are in good form and they got an excellent point at Derby in their last away match.
Wolves meanwhile have been coasting towards the end of the season for some time now in truth with relegation nor promotion ever looking a possibility for them this campaign. A mid-table finish would be a fair reflection on their season and it is what they are likely to get. They’ve won just 1 of their last 9 games but have only lost 2 of them so they’ve remained a tough side to beat despite missing several of their more attacking players to injury.
This game is unlikely to be a classic. Wednesday will be more concerned with avoiding injuries than really chasing the win. There have been under 2.5 goals in 5 of their last 7 away games while all of Wolves’ last 4 home games have finished in 0-0 draws so the Molineux crowd hasn’t exactly been getting their moneys-worth of late and this has the makings of another low scoring game so consider backing there to be under 2.5 goals at 17/20. Wednesday are much better at home than away so Wolves are quite capable of getting something from the game but with their current injury crisis it might only be a point.
