Tip Reasoning

  • Wycombe have won six of their eight home league matches this season
  • Five of Wycombe’s last seven games have included 3+ goals
  • Bolton have not scored in their last three away league games

It is worth discounting some of Wycombe’s recent results, as Gareth Ainsworth has used the EFL Trophy and FA Cup as a chance to rotate his squad and seen his side lose 5-0 to Burton before exiting the FA Cup in a first round replay to League Two Hartlepool.

The Chairboys have actually failed to score in their last three, but League One matches at Adams Park this season have yielded 25 goals, with five of the eight games containing three or more goals.

They remain in fourth place in the table and may be able to capitalise on the potentially tired legs of a Bolton side who were taken to extra-time by Stockport in the FA Cup on Wednesday night.

Bolton Proving Inconsistent

That 5-3 loss at Edgley Park once again displayed Bolton’s up and down form. They beat Crewe 2-0 in their last league game, but have registered back-to-back league wins just once since August.

They have played each of the other teams in the top six already this season, losing three of those matches and with four of those games containing 3+ goals.

In fact, there have been 26 goals in Bolton’s away league games this season, the fifth most in the division, and I expect that trend to continue in this one, predicting 3+ goals and a 2-1 victory to Wycombe.
