Adelaide United vs Western Sydney Wanderers Predictions

  • Adelaide United suffered their second loss in five games last weekend; their good run of form seems to have come to an end.
  • Western Sydney Wanderers drew last week, ending their run of defeats at five games.
  • Adelaide United have yet to draw a game this season, winning five and losing four games so far this year.
  • Western Sydney Wanderers have collapsed in recent weeks, going four games unbeaten at the beginning of the season; they haven’t tasted victory in six games.

Can Adelaide find form again?

It’s been a bit of a stop-start season for Adelaide United so far, losing their opening two games before going on a great run that saw them rise to as high as third in the table. Two losses in recent weeks have brought them back down to earth though, as they look to consolidate their place in the top six. A win here would be the right start as they enter a tough few fixtures.

The loss of Riley McGree has affected their form recently and with the attacking midfielder still missing, they will be without a creative spark once again. They’ve got enough talent in their ranks to claim all three points this weekend, though, as they come up against a Western Sydney Wanderers side struggling for form in a big way.

The only way is up for Wanderers; can they start to rebuild?

At the start of the season, everything looked rosy for Western Sydney Wanderers. They were unbeaten in four games to start the new campaign and Markus Babbel was looking at the side vying to claim top spot. Since then, they’ve not won once, dropping to eighth in the league and having a manager who looks under immense pressure.

They picked up their first point in six games last weekend and Babbel will hope this is the catalyst to turn their season around again and potentially save his job. It’ll be a tough task for them, however, as they travel to Coopers Stadium and beat an Adelaide United side that have won more than they’ve lost this season.

Will Wanderers strike lucky or see red?

This game looks as though it’ll be won by the home side, with Western Sydney Wanderers looking bereft of confidence as well as form. We’re backing Adelaide United to come away with all three points. They’ve got home advantage, have the much better form and will be looking to claim a comfortable victory.

We’re not that confident the hosts will have it all their own way so we can see Western Sydney Wanderers finding the net this Friday. But we do think Adelaide are too strong and should win the game, with a 2-1 result looking the most likely as Wanderers push forward looking to change their fortunes.
