Almere City FC vs FC Oss Predictions

*Rearranged fixture due to Friday’s adverse weather postponement*

A 1-1 draw at MVV on match day 28 was a decent start to Ole Tobiasen’s tenure at Almere City however Schappenkoppen’s limitations were exposed once more last week as Sparta Rotterdam ran out 1-3 winners at Yanmar Stadion. City turn out at home again this Friday against Oss, and they will be seeking to beat TOP on their own patch for the first time since 2014 to keep tabs on the Play-off places.

Almere go into this Friday’s contest 13th in the Eerste Divisie standings and just one point behind the top nine, however their overall form since mid-November suggests that they are likely to miss out on the Play-offs come the end of the regular season.

After a solid start to the campaign which saw them hold a spot in the top five for several weeks, they dropped to 15th following a nine match winless run and that was the key reason why Michele Santoni was shown the exit door at the end of February.

Mixed recent results mean that City haven’t quite recovered, and the aforementioned loss to Sparta as well as a 5-0 hammering at NEC on match day 26 suggest that Schappenkoppen are far from ready to challenge for promotion to Eredivisie this term.

In contrast, 6th placed Oss have been far more stable this season, even though they are only four points ahead of this Friday’s hosts.

Whilst they endured a run of six defeats from nine outings in January and February, Oss have generally sat between 5th and 7th for the majority of the campaign and look like a team capable of making their presence felt in May. Their cushion in the top nine may be a slender one, but TOP should have enough in hand if manage to maintain their steady points to games ratio of just over 1.5.

Klaas Wels’ side posted a decent 2-1 victory at home to defending champions Jong Ajax last week thanks to a brace from Bryan Smeets, and there are further reasons why they should be confident on their travels this Friday.

Oss have won seven, drawn three and lost four on the road this term which is a highly respectable record and they have away victories against the likes of Go Ahead (0-1), NEC (1-5) and leaders Twente (1-2) on their dance card.

Furthermore, they haven’t tasted defeat at Yanmar Stadion since 2014 and they overcame City 2-0 at Frans Heesen Stadion in November’s reverse fixture.

So for us, everything points to a positive result for Oss on match day 30 and we’re keen to take City on the prices – especially as they have lost six times in all at home this season.

Oss are a great bet here at a touch of odds-against in the double chance market, and we’re also backing that wager up with a 1-2 correct score prediction in favour of the more reliable visitors.
