With Manchester City’s first competitive match just a week away they will be looking to start building up some serious fitness in this pre-season tour of the United States, but Bayern Munich are also into the serious preparation stage as they approach their German Super Cup clash with Eintracht Frankfurt later this month.

The Bundesliga champions didn’t exactly impress last time out though. They faced Juventus on Wednesday night, and despite the Italians having almost all of their first choice attacking players unavailable, they still managed a 2-0 win.

In fairness, Bayern Munich didn’t exactly field their strongest squad either. A lot of their German players are still resting after the World Cup, and while they do have Franck Ribery, Arjen Robben, Kingsley Coman, Javi Martinez, and David Alaba at their disposal they opted to leave most of them on the bench for the first half. Now that they’re into their final International Champions Cup match of the summer, we could see a stronger selection from Niko Kovac.

Manchester City are missing substantially more of their first team players. In fact, almost all of their first team players are still on holiday following the World Cup, with only Leroy Sane and the newly signed Riyad Mahrez who can be classed as starters for the Premier League champions.

This has shown as well. They let a 1-0 lead slip against Liverpool on Wednesday night to lose the game 2-1, and that followed a rather bleak performance in their 1-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund last weekend. Pep Guardiola won’t be overly concerned by these results, but it certainly puts them at a disadvantage coming into this match.

Bayern Munich have already faced one heavily weakened squad this summer, and that resulted in a 3-1 win over PSG last weekend. Given the amount of Manchester City’s players who are missing, and the fact that they’ve lost both of their ICC games so far, we like the look of a Bayern Munich Win along with a 2-1 correct score predictions.
