      Bayern Munich vs Nurnberg Predictions

Bayern Munich returned to winning ways in the Bundesliga last weekend against Werder Bremen, but the giants of German football sit fourth in the table and are nine points off top spot. On Saturday Nurnberg make the short trip to the Allianz Arena, but with no wins in their last seven Bundesliga games the odds are stacked against the visitors this weekend.

Werder Bremen gave Bayern a decent game last time out, but a former favourite returned to haunt the hosts and help lead Munich to a 2-1 win. German international Gnabry spent one very successful season on the Werder Bremen books, but returned to the Weserstadion with the opening goal for Bayern in the twentieth minute. The two clubs still went in level at the break thanks to a thirty-third minute strike from Japanese striker Ōsako, but on the balance of play Bayern will have been disappointed not to have held their lead into the interval.

However, just five minutes into the second half Gnabry scored his second goal of the game and restored Munich’s one goal advantage. Bayern dominated the match with 59% of the possession, ten corners to the hosts three, and thirteen shots during the ninety minutes, but will be slightly disappointed with their overall finishing. Things went from bad to worse for Werder Bremen in stoppage time when defender Moisander was shown his second yellow card of the match and will now miss his teams next game.

With seven Bundesliga goals this season Polish striker Lewandowski continues to do the business for Bayern Munich, while teammate Müller is the second top scorer with four league goals to his name. Nurnberg are lacking an out and out goalscorer so far this season, with Behrens, Ishak, Palacios, and Zreľák all tied for the number one scorers spot with two goals apiece.

Nurnberg has the home advantage against Leverkusen last weekend, but still went behind to a twenty-ninth minute strike from Havertz. That goal proved enough to separate the two clubs at the half time break, and on the balance of play the visitors deserved to be in front. Nurnberg had to respond in the second half and shortly before the hour mark Austrian defender Margreitter equalised for the hosts against the run of play. Leverkusen had 60% of the possession during the ninety minutes, six corners to the hosts three, and eleven shots to Nurnberg’s six, but still ended up sharing the spoils with the home side.

Bayern Munich head into the game as the form favourites with three wins two draws, and one defeat from their last six matches, while Nurnberg have earned just one win, three draws, and suffered two defeats. Bayern have only kept one clean sheet in their last six matches and Nurnberg have only failed to score in one of their last six, but the hosts have kept five clean sheets in their last six matches against Saturday’s guests.

We’re confident that Bayern will win to nil on Saturday, and have backed the final score to read 3-0. Bayern have a good record against Nurnberg and with five clean sheets in their last six matches against this weekends visitors they will be confident of claiming all three points and keeping their opponents out. The hosts have won three of their last five in all competitions and have beaten Nurnberg in five of their last six encounters.
