      Benfica vs Feirense Predictions

Benfica sit fourth in the Primeira Liga table, but could move as high as second with victory over Feirense on Saturday. The visitors been performing well in both domestic cups, but their league form sees them sitting one place above the relegation zone after ten games. Benfica were beaten heavily in their midweek Champions League game in Munich and will be hoping to return to winning ways this weekend against a side they have never lost against.

Benfica’s last league outing was against Tondela at the Estádio João Cardoso before the international break where despite going behind in the very first minute to an own goal by Conti, Benfica recovered to claim all three points. The pair went in level at the break thanks to an equaliser from Jonas in the ninth minute, but it was the fifty-fourth minute sending-off of David Bruno for Tondela that turned the game in the visitors favour.

Seferović put Benfica in front for the first time in the match in the sixty-fourth minute as the ten-men of Tondela began to get overawed by the visitors, and in the seventy-fifth minute Rafa Silva scored a killer third goal to ensure Benfica picked up all three points. Things went from bad to worse for the hosts when Brazilian defender Icaro was shown a straight red card with just five minutes left on the clock, but overall the best team won and Tondela can have no real complaints.

With four goals each in the league this season Rafa Silva and Pizzi joint top score for Benfica, but this weekends hosts will be slightly disappointed not to have a top scorer on more with more goals to their name at this stage of the season. Feirense’s top scorer in the Primeira Liga this season is Edinho on three goals, but he is the only player in the squad to have scored more than once in the league this season which is cause for concern for the visitors this weekend.

Feirense lost 2-1 away at mid table Vitória Setúbal in their last league game, despite having 52% of the overall possession. Their hosts had more corners and more shots off and on target during the ninety minutes and just did enough to deserve the three points. The pair went in level at the break after Frédéric Mendy’s open in the twentieth minute for Vitória Setúbal was cancelled out thirteen minutes later by Feirense defender Cris.

The match was settle in the seventy-second minute by one of Vitória Setúbal second half substitutes Cádiz after good work from Nuno Pinto who claim the assist. On the balance of play Tondela can’t have too many complaints about the end result because despite having seeing more of the ball the visitors didn’t create enough goal scoring opportunities to deserve anything from the game.

Benfica aren’t in the best of form when you look at their result in all competitions over the last six matches, but each of Feirense’s last three wins have arrived in the domestic cups and not in the Primeira Liga. We’re confident that Benfica will win and that both teams will score on Saturday, and have backed the game to end 3-1. The hosts have won twelve of their thirteen matches against Feirense. Benfica’s last five matches have seen both teams score, while four of Feirense’s last six matches have also seen both teams score. Benfica haven’t kept a single clean in their last six matches in all competitions, and that suggests Feirense will have opportunities to score on Saturday.
