Stuttgart Over 1.5 Team Goals

Reason for tip

Stuttgart have scored at least two goals in each of their last five away games and have hit multiple goals in each of the last three meetings with Dortmund. The hosts’ defence has shipped four goals combined in their last two home Bundesliga matches and could come unstuck against a Stuttgart attack featuring two of the Bundesliga’s hottest strikers.

Draw 2-2

Reason for tip

Dortmund have scored exactly two goals in five of their last six games in all competitions and conceded two or more in four of their last six Bundesliga home games against sides not currently in the bottom four. Stuttgart have scored multiple goals in nine of their last 10 games in all competitions, but can be suspect defensively too.

Crucial clash for Champions League hopefuls

A place in next season’s Champions League could be at stake when Borussia Dortmund entertain Stuttgart at Signal Iduna Park on Saturday evening.

Stuttgart currently occupy the third and final guaranteed entry berth into next season’s expanded European competition with Dortmund four points back in fourth.

But, after last Saturday’s superb 2-0 away win over Bayern Munich, Edin Terzic’s outfit will be looking to gain ground on a Stuttgart side that slipped up against Heidenheim.

Special strikeforce gives Stuttgart a chance

Scoring goals is not a problem for the Swabians, who have registered 11 in their last four matches. But Sebastien Hoeness’ side needed Deniz Undav’s stoppage-time leveller to salvage a point after allowing their mid-table opponents to turn a 2-0 deficit into a 3-2 lead during a crazy 23-minute spell in the second half.

Trusting Stuttgart to win this game, which they might given they have won their last four Bundesliga away games, means believing something like that won’t happen again. Dortmund have so much talent in attack that it’s hard to envisage them not scoring at least once in this fixture.

But the Reds will field a strikeforce that has bagged 38 league goals between them with Undav and Serhou Guirassy capable of continuing a run of three games in which Stuttgart have scored multiple goals against die Schwarzgelben.
