Brighton to Win

Reason for tip

Burnley lost all seven of their home games against current top-half teams. Brighton are now 10th after a lean spell, but their last two away wins came at clubs mired in the bottom four with Burnley. The Seagulls are undefeated on their last three visits to Turf Moor with two wins from those recent trips north.

Joao Pedro To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Joao Pedro has scored eight goals in his last nine Brighton appearances (eight starts). He takes penalties and could be due to take another if Burnley’s defensive naivety raises its head again.

Burnley could be tailor-made for De Zerbi

Burnley could be the perfect opponents for Brighton as Roberto De Zerbi’s side try to work their way back into form after a lean spell.

The Seagulls have taken just four points from the last 15 on offer in the Premier League and were soundly beaten at their own place by title-chasing Arsenal last weekend.

Albion have had a wretched run on the road with six defeats in their last nine away games, including the 4-0 loss in Rome where their European campaign went pop.

Brighton’s Brazilian band leader is back

De Zerbi’s answer has been to carry on chopping and changing, but even the Italian tinkerman admitted his decision to keep Joao Pedro on for the full game at Brentford was the wrong call.

The Brazilian was appearing in his first game for seven weeks after an injury and then could not make any impact as a substitute against the Gunners.

But the Seagulls’ 19-goal top scorer will be in better condition to contribute after a week’s rest and training, which should make him the most dangerous player at Turf Moor.

Clarets can still be naive

Burnley return to their home after a horrible outing at Goodison Park last weekend. Dara O’Shea was sent off and Arijanet Muric had an afternoon to forget as Vincent Kompany’s side gift-wrapped the points to their desperate hosts.

The still-too-naive Clarets flatter to deceive and should not be trusted to take points from this fixture. Kompany’s side were fortunate to claim a 1-1 draw at the Amex Stadium earlier this season when the data suggested that the quality of Brighton’s on-target shots should have amounted to 4.0 goals.

Burnley have enough quality in the attacking third to get a goal, but Brighton can emulate the likes of Bournemouth, Fulham, West Ham, Everton and Liverpool by scoring twice in Lancashire.
