Carlisle vs Blackburn Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews

We may only be a handful of matches into the new season but with a lot of sides already starting poorly, the return of this years League Cup is sure to be a welcome distraction from the league campaign. Two sides who are sure to be in the group of teams who are welcoming it are Carlisle United and Blackburn Rovers, and the pair meet for a place in the second round this Tuesday.

Carlisle United boss John Sheridan has seen plenty in his lengthy management career so he will not be too worried about a start which has seen his side lose 3-1 to Exeter City on the opening day and follow that up with a 2-2 draw against recently relegated Northampton Town. Sheridan only took the hot seat this summer following the departure of Keith Curle, but he will be keen to make an impression as soon as possible and will know that upsetting a side from a higher division would certainly help him achieve that.

Like their hosts, Blackburn Rovers have not enjoyed the best start to the new campaign. Rovers won their spot back in England’s second tier with promotion from League One last season but they know their new level is highly competitive so they cannot afford to give their opposition too much of an advantage if they are going to be able to achieve any of their aims.

Blackburn may be two divisions higher than their hosts, but they are behind on the head to head between these two sides and have lost on each of their three previous visits to Brunton Park. Given that both sides will look to be positive in the hopes that a win will kick start their season, we think that backing both teams to find the back of the net is the way to go in this one.
