Carlisle vs Lincoln City Predictions

Although we are in the final stages of the league season, there are still plenty of issues which rely on the final few rounds of matches in order for them to be settled. Good Friday sees a pivotal clash in both the race for the title and the race for the play-offs as champions elect, Lincoln City, make the trip to Cumbria in order to face off against Carlisle United at Brunton Park.

The end of the season has not been particularly kind to Carlisle United so far and, unless things change pretty drastically, then they are ending the campaign with a bit of a whimper. The Cumbrians are still in the hunt for the end of season play-offs, but although they occupy the ‘best of the rest’ position of eighth place, the four points they need to make up on Exeter seems like it could be an insurmountable task. The hosts enter into this match having won just two of their last 11 contests, a run which is likely down to their seeming inability to keep the ball out of the back of their net.

Given the troubles the hosts are in at the moment, the last people they will want to be entertaining this Good  Friday is a side who are champions in all but name, Lincoln City. The Imps have been excellent this season and are fully deserving of the title which is surely heading their way, and they enter into this contest with knowing that victory will see them crowned as League Two champions for the 2018/19 season.

Although the hosts are in pretty dire shape at the moment, they are quite adept at getting on the score-sheet and with a top seven place still to play for, they will likely presume attack is the best form of defence. Their visitors may be the best in the division, but we think that the occasion may just get to them and backing both teams to score appears to represent the best opportunity for a decent return.

We are not done there though, as although we think the both teams will score, we also think there is further opportunity to boost the return on offer. The visitors have the best away record in the division and are coming up against a side who are nowhere near their peak. With this in mind, we think that backing an away win and combining it with our initial tip of both teams to score is an excellent way to boost the return on offer.
