Crystal Palace vs West Ham United Predictions
- West Ham have won just one of their last six Premier League games
- The Hammers exited Europe in midweek and they’re dealing with key injuries at the back
- Palace have improved under Oliver Glasner and they won at Anfield last weekend
Hammers pivot to sixth
West Ham laid it all on the line on Thursday night, but the Europa Conference League holders couldn’t end Bayer Leverkusen’s unbeaten season. Their Europa League exit means that the Hammers sole aim in the final few weeks is to leap into the top six, securing a return to Europe next term.
However, their return to league action sees them meet a Crystal Palace side who are on the up, having claimed an impressive scalp with a 1-0 victory at Anfield last Sunday.
Eagles soaring to safety
Palace continued their fine start to life under Oliver Glasner with that win against Liverpool, which lifted them eight points clear of the relegation zone. The Eagles look likely to feature in the Premier League next term, but a victory this weekend would essentially wrap things up.
Under Glasner, Palace have looked more direct and dangerous, while they’ve only conceded within the first hour of a game on one occasion since the new boss took charge. While his approach is demanding having taken over mid-season, the former Eintracht Frankfurt boss is making a real difference.
Palace should have what it takes to hold the visitors at bay, while their newfound attacking outlook should see them take the game to West Ham.
Shaky visitors look vulnerable
While the Hammers need to switch focus back to the league, their poor recent run has hurt their hopes of a return to Europe. The Hammers have won once across their last six games. Even that success was a fortunate one, as they trailed for much of their visit to Wolves before coming close to shipping a late equaliser.
They could be in trouble against Palace, who look organised and ready to break at pace when the time comes. Glasner has really helped striker Jean Philippe Mateta, who has scored in three successive home games for the Eagles. He has scored in four of Glasner’s first seven games in charge and he looked very dangerous at Anfield too, so back him to net in another Palace victory.
