Elche vs Tenerife Predictions

The season is essentially over for Elche, who’re currently marooned midtable, though there’s still plenty to play for as far as Tenerife are concerned. The visitors come into this game off the back of a loss last time out, a loss that landed them just two points above the drop-zone. If they get beat on Saturday, then José Luis Oltra’s men may find themselves in the bottom four.

Elche’s dream of reaching the play-offs has been over for a while, which is probably why they’ve been struggling for both wins and consistency. Saturday’s hosts have won just one of their last five, while they come into this match having received a 5-3 beating last time out.

Recent form isn’t great as far as Elche are concerned, though they’ll fancy themselves to do well on Saturday, as they’ve got a relatively pleasing home record. Pacheta’s men have won nine, drawn six and have lost just four of their 19 home games this season, scoring 22 and conceding only 14 in the process.

Saturday’s hosts come into this game having won five of their last six at home, while they’ve posted a reasonably encouraging set of underlying figures at Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero, as they average 1.43 expected goals for, while they’ve shipped an average of just 0.86. They’ve conceded an average of just 0.74 goals.

In contrast, Tenerife have struggled on the road. Sunday’s visitors have lost each of their last two on the road, while they have the fifth-lowest points tally in the division (away from home). Goal-scoring has been an issue for Tenerife away from home, as they’ve scored just 15 goals in 19 travelling matches, while they’ve also struggled to keep teams at bay, having shipped a total of 26.

In addition to a rather poor set of basic stats, Tenerife average a measly 0.84 expected goals for away from home, while they’ve surrendered an average of 1.64. Such numbers are discouraging to say the least. Last time out on the road, Saturday’s visitors struggled to put up a fight when losing against Granada, as they posted just 0.39 expected goals for and conceded 1.86. Much of the same can be said for when they lost at Extremadura prior to that. Unless they improve considerably, then Elche shouldn’t have much trouble regaining the winning thread.

All in all, Elche look a far better side than their visitors. At the prices, backing ‘Elche to Win’ is a solid option. The hosts have performed far better at home than Tenerife have on the road. In fact, the gap in quality looks to be greater than the current odds suggest, so betting on Elche to emerge victorious offers punters a slice of value.
