FC Den Bosch vs Cambuur Leeuwarden Predictions

Cambuur have won on their last two visits to s-Hertogenbosch, but Rene Hake’s side look well and truly up against it heading into this Friday’s Eerste Divisie encounter at Stadion De Vliert. The Leeuwarden outfit have just one win from seven outings on the road this season, and hosts Den Bosch are absolutely flying after notching their eighth consecutive league victory in bloodless fashion at Telstar last week.

After Frank Korpershoek cancelled out Danny Holla’s early opener in IJmuiden, Den Bosch went in level at the break against Telstar on match day 14, but The Blue White Dragons soon asserted their dominance in the second period.

Assisted by the dismissal of Rodny Lopes Cabral for the hosts, Wil Boessen’s side eased their way to a 1-4 win through goals from Leo Vaisanen, Jort van der Sande and Danny Verbeek to strengthen their grip on 3rd in the table and close in on leaders Sparta Rotterdam, who could only manage a 1-1 draw at NEC.

Den Bosch are now just one point off the top in the main standings, whilst they co-lead the Period 2 table with FC Oss three games in. Securing a Play-off spot via the latter will be Den Bosch’s immediate target, and they could easily move clear in that race this weekend with Oss facing a difficult assignment in Deventer against Go Ahead Eagles.

Stadion De Vliert should be bouncing for this one – over 5000 supporters packed in to watch Den Bosch sink promotion rivals Twente 2-1 a fortnight ago and fans are starting to believe that their team can return to Eredivisie for the first time in 14 years this term.

They will certainly be solid favourites to land a ninth success on the spin and a fifth win in a row at home when Cambuur come to town this Friday, with the Leeuwarden outfit struggling to gain any real consistency this season.

Cambuur started the campaign extremely well with four wins and a draw from their first five outings, but they’ve dropped out of the picture completely since with two wins, two draws and five defeats posted from their most recent nine games.

Last week’s 1-1 draw at home to Volendam keeps Cambuur 9th in the standings and five points adrift of the Play-offs going into match day 15, but their position is likely to worsen come full time in s-Hertogenbosch.

Cambuur’s only win from seven away matches came against Oss at the end of August (1-3) and Rene Hake’s men have lost their last four on their travels against Dordrecht (3-1), Sparta (3-0), Go Ahead (2-0) and Almere City (2-1).

That form just isn’t good enough to even give them a squeak in this one, and Den Bosch have to rate as banker material in this week’s round of Eerste Divisie games.

So it’s a straightforward home win here for us with a three point stake recommended, and we’re also going for a 3-1 correct score in favour of The Blue White Dragons who we expect to do the business comfortably.
