FC Eindhoven vs Helmond Sport Predictions

FC Eindhoven swept aside Dordrecht 0-3 on match day 14 to claw their way up to 16th in the table, and David Nascimento’s side will be seeking to bag their first home success of the campaign this Friday when they host Helmond Sport at Jan Louwers Stadion. With Sport now winless in 22 games after a 0-2 defeat against RKC last week, the hosts won’t get a better opportunity to get a victory on the board in front of their own supporters.

There’s not been too much to shout about for FC Eindhoven fans this season, but the small group of supporters who made the trip to Dordrecht last week will have been pleased with what they saw.

Blauw-witten sealed an emphatic 0-3 success against Eerste Divisie’s bottom side through goals from Sam Elisha, Karim Essikal and Branco van den Boomen, and leapfrogged Jong AZ to move up to 16th in the table.

There’s little scope for much further movement in the weeks ahead with RKC the only team above them in the standings who are within touching distance, but Eindhoven will feel that they can go on a decent run now on the lead up to Christmas with fixtures against Jong AZ, Jong Utrecht and RKC all to follow this Friday’s clash with Helmond Sport at Jan Louwers Stadion.

And they’ll be confident of securing their first home win of the season on match day 15 with opponents Sport arguably the worst team in the division, despite currently being second bottom by virtue of goal difference.

Rob Alflen’s side are now 22 games without a victory after being turned over 0-2 by RKC at Lavans Stadion last week, where they struggled to make any kind of impact, even after Waalwijk were reduced to ten men at the start of the second half.

It was Sport’s eighth defeat of the campaign and their fifth in six matches – and in truth they don’t look capable of beating anyone at present.

But at odds-on, we don’t feel that the hosts are worth siding with here, considering they are still searching for a first home win of the season and have yet to record back to back victories in the campaign.

Instead, we think under 2.5 goals offers some real value, with FC Eindhoven scoring just four goals in their six home fixtures thus far and Sport also finding the net just four times in their six away assignments to date.

50% of the teams’ combined 28 games this term have produced less than three goals, so going for that outcome on Friday is a solid selection at around the 6/4 mark.

We can see this being a really dour affair with little goalmouth action, so we’re also going to be a bit speculative and opt for a 0-0 stalemate at huge odds.
