FC Oss vs Telstar Predictions

Oss and Telstar have collected just seven points between them in their last six Eerste Divisie games, so this Friday’s encounter at Frans Heesen Stadion could be a really dour affair. Oss are likely to be in worse spirits considering they have fallen outside the Play-offs over the past few weeks, and Klaas Wels’ men look a team to avoid on match day 25 at a shade of odds-on.

Last week’s 1-3 reversal at home to MVV was Oss’ fourth defeat in five Eerste Divisie matches, and TOP are now outside of the Play-off places in 10th having been as high as 5th just a matter of weeks ago.

Klaas Wels’ side petered out tamely in 2017/18 and a similar fate this time around is appearing more certain by the game, with their dismal recent performances a far cry to those turned in around October and November when they racked up five successive league wins.

Oss’ demise has manly stemmed from their efforts at Frans Heesen Stadion, and they go into this Friday’s contest with Telstar seeking their first victory in six on home soil. Amazingly though, the bookies still rate TOP as odds-on shots to bank the three points on match day 25.

In truth though, that’s probably more reflective of the standard of opposition, with Telstar enduring a torrid season after a highly promising 2017/18 campaign.

Telstar were 5th in the table with 41 points at this stage last term, but they now find themselves languishing in 16th with just 26 points on the board.

Mike Snoei’s side are without a win in seven following last week’s 0-3 drubbing at home to RKC, and they are well detached from the pack with six points separating them from 15th placed NEC.

Nonetheless, Telstar have an away record which stands up to the teams in mid-table, and they have won four of their 12 away fixtures this season overall.

Admittedly, three of those four wins have been against teams currently below them in the standings, but the bookies may have underestimated their chances a little here considering Oss have been performing like a  team at the bottom for several weeks.

Overall though, there are just too many negatives about both teams here to get involved in the match betting, and it’s perhaps best to focus on the potential for a low scoring game with the sides struggling in front of goal and low on morale.

Oss have hit the onion bag just six times in their last eight matches, with Telstar only going one better than that over the same period.

54% Oss’ matches and 50% Telstar’s games this term have finished with fewer than three goals scored, so the odds-against for under 2.5 here looks reasonable.

We’re not expecting this to be a thrilling contest and chances should be at a premium, so a 0-0 correct score at a fancy price can give you a big run for your money – especially as that’s how it finished at Frans Heesen Stadion in last season’s corresponding fixture.
