FH Hafnarfjordur vs Keflavik Predictions

Monday night’s Urvalsdeild clash between FH and Keflavik is a real mismatch in terms of form. The home side are well positioned in Iceland’s top flight, having climbed to third place in the table. They’re only being held off the top by goal difference ahead of this round of games. Can they rack up the goals in this meeting with the league’s bottom side as they aim to move to the summit of the table? Or can Keflavik turn the odds on their head with a shock result in this trip?

The visitors are yet to win since moving in to the top flight, having returned just in time to mark the 45th year since the last of their four Urvalsdeild titles. They’ve averaged just 0.33 points per game so far this season, and according to the bookies, the visitors aren’t expected to add to that . Keflavik are coming off a 3-1 defeat by IBV, the other side in the bottom two of the Urvalsdeild. This is a much bigger step up, so it’s not really a surprise that FH come into Monday’s meeting as the heavy favourites for the three points.

The hosts won in the cup in midweek, and they’re now through to the last eight as they look to continue a strong start to the new campaign. They finished last season in third place, so they’ll be aiming to climb the table and go one better this time around. While it’s early days so far this season, the hosts should be good for another win this week.

The home side have won three of their last four games, while they’ve picked up two wins and a draw in their last three at home. That form should be more than enough to see off the worst side in the division, who have lost five of their last six games. Keflavik make this trip without a victory in seven of their last eight away trips, and they’ve struggled since making the step up to the top flight. In our eyes, there’s only one winner from this encounter.

The hosts do have a slight issue with defending, however. They’ve managed one clean sheet in their last nine home games, while they conceded in 73% of their home matches last season. Keflavik have had a solid record in front of goal so far, and with FH not looking all that solid in defence, we can see this being a high scoring game. As a result, we’re going with an FH victory and both teams to score, while a 3-1 win for the third placed side is our correct score prediction.
