Greece vs Finland Predictions

Finland booked their last at Euro 2020 last week, much to the delight of their home crowd. However, they have one final clash to get through in this group with little on the line. Greece are looking back over a tough qualifying campaign which left them off the pace early on. The hosts have stepped up of late with a couple of victories but will that be enough for them to pull off a win in this clash?

Greece are about to end a dismal campaign in this clash, having fallen seven points shy of the top two. The hosts are some way short of Italy and Finland, despite being among the main contenders for a top-two finish in this group. With Armenia and Bosnia only a point behind, the Greeks could be fifth in this six-team group by the end of this clash.

Meanwhile, there’s nowhere for the Finns to go here. Their seven-point lead over Greece still leaves them closer to third than first, where a perfect Italian side are storming away with the lead. Despite that, the visitors will be on a high having booked their place at the European Championships for the first time. They’ve done it with impressive swagger up front, something they’ll hope to continue here.

The visitors have scored twice in their last eight qualifiers, while they head into this clash aiming to add to that. Their last two outings in this group have brought six goals altogether, while they should add to that against a Greek side who are struggling to keep a clean sheet in this campaign. The visitors are boosted by the presence of Norwich’s Teemu Pukki, who has scored a goal per game so far.

Meanwhile, Greece have kept one clean sheet across their previous nine games. They head into this match with some awful home form behind them, which includes a 1-1 draw with Liechtenstein. They’ve conceded in every game, with only Italy keeping a clean sheet in Athens. With Finland scoring regularly but in mixed form on the road, we think that BTTS will land for the fourth game in a row for Greece at home.

On top of backing both teams to score, we are going with a 1-1 draw between the pair. Greece seem to be on the up after back to back victories, but they’ve failed to prove themselves against the very best teams in the group. Meanwhile, Finland can relax a little here, which leaves them vulnerable. We see the duo wrapping up with a point, so a 1-1 draw is our correct score prediction in this one.
