Houston Dynamo vs Seattle Sounders Predictions

      • Houston Dynamo have picked up just one point so far this season.
      • Seattle Sounders have won one and drawn one to start their 2020 campaign.
      • Houston have scored one goal but conceded five in their first two games.
      • Seattle have scored three times so far and conceded twice.

Houston need to find a win to start their season

Houston Dynamo haven’t had the best of starts to their 2020 campaign with an opening day draw at home to LA Galaxy being followed by a 4-0 defeat away to Sporting KC. It wasn’t the start that Houston would’ve wanted in a season they wanted to challenge for the playoffs in and it won’t get any easier this weekend when they welcome the current MLS Cup holders to BBVA Stadium.

Houston have scored just once so far this season, in their opening match with LA Galaxy but perhaps the most worrying thing is that the team has only created three shots on target in those opening two games. They will need to improve rapidly in attack and with Mauro Manotas they certainly have the goalscorer in their ranks to propel themselves up the league.

A solid but unspectacular start for Seattle

Seattle Sounders have got off to an unbeaten start in their 2020 MLS campaign but it hasn’t been easy for them. It took a last second goal in their opening game for them to defeat a spirited Chicago Fire side whilst they had to rely on a late penalty to claim a draw at home to Columbus. Seattle traditionally start slowly so will be delighted to have the points on the board but they have yet to show why they are current MLS Cup holders so far this season.

Seattle have managed nine shots on target so far this season, scoring three times so their stats aren’t too bad overall but their performances have been lacking slightly. The return of Jordan Morris in the Chicago game saved the team with the forward scoring two goals to give them the win but his teammates need to step up a little more to relieve the pressure on the 25 year old.

      Another disappointment for Houston

This game looks as though it could spell further frustration for Houston fans with Seattle looking the more likely victors. They come into the game unbeaten and without really having started to excel yet whilst Houston have already conceded heavily this season. With Seattle still having some value in the market, we’re backing them to win this game.

We can’t see there being a glut of goals but Seattle should certainly have too much for Houston this weekend. Houston should be able to get on the scoresheet but Seattle should enjoy a fairly comfortable victory. We think the visitors return to Seattle with all three points following a 2-1 win.
