Huddersfield vs Blackburn Rovers Predictions

At the half-way point in the season there can be few fans in England as content as those of Huddersfield Town. The Terriers are firmly in contention for a return to the top flight after over 40 years away and up against struggling Blackburn they certainly look the more likely victors here.

Huddersfield look to have come through their wobble with 4 straight wins coming into this match which have propelled them back into the play-off places. They’ve been very good at the John Smith’s Stadium this term taking 2.27 points per game on average at home, winning 73% of those matches.

Perhaps the most curious thing about their season has been the lack of goals for last season’s top scorer Nahki Wells. He’s shown glimpses of a return to form in recent weeks though and if he can start finding the net with some regularity again, he could really add something to Huddersfield’s play-off push. With Blackburn poor at the back, he should get chances here and backing Wells to score anytime at 7/5 could be worth a punt.

While Huddersfield have won all four games since these sides met at the start of the month, Blackburn have failed to pick up a single point since holding the Terriers to a draw at Ewood Park. The defensive problems that plagued them earlier on in the campaign have returned with 2 or more goals conceded in all of those defeats. They’ve also struggled badly on the road overall, losing 73% of their away games and given that and Huddersfield’s strong home record, backing Huddersfield to win at 7/10 looks like a solid bet here.

One scoreline has served Huddersfield very well at home this season and that is the 2-1 win. They’ve already recorded six victories by that margin at the John Smith’s Stadium, with an incredible 54% of their home Championship matches this term ending up that way, including their most recent against Forest on Boxing Day. A 2-1 defeat is also Blackburn’s most common away scoreline, so backing Huddersfield to win 2-1 at 15/2 looks to offer real value in the correct score market.
