Liverpool vs Crystal Palace Predictions
- Liverpool have gone nine games without a clean sheet.
- Palace have conceded in seven of their last eight games.
- Both teams should rotate for this EFL Cup clash.
Cup respite for Reds and Eagles
Liverpool and Crystal Palace meet in the EFL Cup on Wednesday in what both sides may view as a welcome break from their respective Premier League campaigns.
The Reds’ have lost their last four league games in what has been a disappointing defence of their title so far. That run of defeats started with a 2-1 loss at Selhurst Park, but Crystal Palace have picked up just one point from three games since and are winless in four across all competitions.
Both of these sides will probably rotate quite heavily for this cup game as their priorities lie elsewhere and that adds a further element of uncertainty, but with both teams struggling for form the standout option could be backing both teams to score.
Liverpool have gone nine games without keeping a clean sheet across all competitions and Palace’s defence has also been suspect as they have conceded in seven of their last eight games. This will be the third meeting between these teams this season after Palace’s penalty success in the Community Shield and win in the league, and there have been goals at both ends in the two previous clashes.
Palace have clearly had the edge over Liverpool this season but this is the first meeting at Anfield and Arne Slot’s side may be able to take a bit of revenge on Wednesday. For all their struggles, Liverpool’s home record has been solid with five wins and just one defeat in six games across all competitions. The Reds beat Southampton 2-1 in the previous round of this competition at Anfield and can see off Palace by the same scoreline.
