Los Angeles FC vs FC Cincinnati Predictions

LAFC are the top performers in the early stages of the new MLS season, picking up sixteen points from their opening six matches. Cincinnati have enjoyed a decent start to life in the MLS, but their form has been inconsistent in recent weeks as the visitors have won two, drew two, and lost two of their last six matches.

Last weekend LAFC thrashed DC United 4-0 in their own backyard, with Vela scoring the visitors opening goal in the fifteenth minute. Rossi scored twice in the first half which saw LAFC lead 3-0 at the break, and the Uruguayan completed his hat trick in the second half to wrap up an impressive 4-0 scoreline. Cincinnati picked up a point at home against Sporting KC, and on the balance of play a draw was the right result. A nineteenth minute penalty from Mattocks put the hosts in front, but the visitors equalised shortly after the hour mark through Busio and the game ended 1-1.

Obviously there is no head to head record between these two teams, so we’re solely going on the two club’s starts to the season to base our prediction. LAFC are best placed to win the game, but we can see both teams scoring on Sunday. LAFC have won five of their last six matches, while Cincinnati have only won one of their three away games this season. Cincinnati have failed to win any of their last two matches. Both teams have scored in four of LAFC’s and three of Cincinnati’s last six matches, and we fully expect both teams to score on Sunday as well. In terms of a final score we’re going with a 4-3 win for LAFC as the hosts have scored over 3.5 team goals in three of their last five matches.

Carlos Vela has scored an amazing seven goals in the league this season, that’s more goals than games for the Mexican international, and his teammate Rossi is just one goal behind on six. Cincinnati don’t have any player with more than one goal to their name so far this season, but the visitors can score goals from a verity of areas of their squad and that will come in handy as the campaign progresses. We’re confident that LAFC will win and both teams will score on Sunday, and have predicted a final scoreline of 4-2. The hosts are scoring for fun and their early season form suggests they could win the MLS Cup this season. Cincinnati look capable of finishing in mid table, but we don’t expect the visitors to be able to live with the attacking threat of their hosts this weekend.
