Los Angeles FC vs New England Revolution Predictions

Both LAFC and New England picked up wins heading into last weekends international break, and the pair now go head to head in the MLS on Sunday. LAFC picked up an impressive 4-2 win at Toronto to keep themselves in the race to finish top of the Western Conference, while they picked up a surprise win against New York City to take themselves to within three points of the play-off places.

Mexican international Carlos Vela put LAFC 1-0 up in the twenty-second minute of their game in Canada on the 2nd September, and that goal proved enough to separate the two clubs heading into the half time break.

Goals from Rossi and Nguyen inside the opening four minutes of the second half saw the visitors extend their lead to three goals, but a double from Altidore late on saw the LAFC’s lead reduced to just one goal just as it looked like the last few minutes of this game would be nervous ones for the visitors, Vela netted his second goal of the game in the ninety-fourth minute to wrap up an impressive 4-2 win.

Vela has now moved in front of teammates Diomande and Rossi as LAFC’s top scorer in the league this season with eleven goals. Diomande and Rossi have both chipped in with nine goal apiece and LAFC remain one of the most potent attacking teams in the MLS this season.

New England wont quite believe how they managed to beat New York City on the 6th September after conceding 62% of the overall possession to their hosts, managing just four shots on target to New York’s nine, and having ten fewer corners during the ninety minutes and still managing to claim a 1-0 win.

Canadian striker Wright scored what turned out to be the games winning goal for New England in the seventieth minute, and despite some good chances late on, the visitors held on to secure an impressive and important win in their quest to finish in the top six in the Eastern Conference.

New England remain three points outside of the play-off places and have a goal difference of minus two, but with Bunbury and Penilla scoring a combined twenty goals in the league this season, that goal difference could well end in the positives.

A win and a draw from their last two matches may well spell the end of New England’s poor run of form, but LAFC are full of confidence and goals making them a very tough opponent for any MLS team right now. The hosts have thirteen more points on the board and head into Sunday’s game as the form favourites.

We’re confident that LAFC will win and keep a clean sheet against New England this weekend, with the scoreline ending 2-0 to the hosts. LAFC have won three of their last four matches, while New England have lost three of their last six matches. LAFC have managed to keep two clean sheets in their last four matches, while New England Revolution have failed to score in two of their last four matches and that’s why we believe the home side will win and stop their opponents from scoring on Sunday.
