Luton vs Doncaster Predictions

Luton Town hold a five point lead at the top of League One despite only managing to draw at home with Gillingham last weekend. On Saturday Luton play host to a Doncaster Rovers side that are on the brink of losing their place in the play-offs following a run of six games without a win in League One.

Luton Town controlled the majority of their last game at home to Gillingham and took the lead on the stroke of halftime through a goal from Hylton. Despite Gillingham getting back onto level terms early in the second half, Luton restored their one-goal advantage through Stacey in the sixty-seventh minute and looked like they would go on to claim all three points. However, a late strike from O’Neill saw Gillingham pinch a point in a game Luton really should have won. Doncaster did Luton Town a favour last weekend when they held second placed Barnsley to a goalless draw at The Keepmoat Stadium. Donny didn’t see as much of the ball as their guests, but the hosts had more shots on target and will have been disappointed not to have won the game.

Recent matches played between these two clubs, their results, and their performances in recent weeks all point towards a low scoring game on Saturday and the likelihood of a narrow win for Luton Town. Four of the last seven meetings between these two clubs have produced under 2.5 goals, while four of Luton’s last five and all of Doncaster’s last six matches have also seen under 2.5 goals scored. Luton Town have not lost in League One since October and the hosts have won three of their last six matches, while Doncaster Rovers are without a win in their last six games in League One. Luton have performed the better of the two sides this season, have a very good home record in League One, and head into the game as the clear form favourites.

Irish striker Collins has been in great form for Luton Town this season with twenty-goals in League One alone, while teammate Lee has chipped in with ten goals. Marquis top scores for Doncaster Rovers with eighteen league goals so far this season, and teammate Wilks has netted eleven times in League One. We’re confident that under 2.5 goals will be scored on Saturday, and have backed Luton Town to claim a 1-0 win. Both teams have been involved in a large number of low scoring games of late, but with the home advantage we’re backing the league leaders to just do enough to claim all three points.
