Orlando City vs FC Dallas Predictions

Orlando City sit ninth in the Eastern Conference table having picked up twenty-six points from their twenty-three matches this season, while Dallas occupy one of the playoff places in the Western Conference with twenty-three games played and thirty-three points acquired. Dallas have never lost against Orlando City before so will be confident of adding to their points tally this weekend but despite losing their last two matches, the hosts have picked up some decent results over the last month and won’t go down without a fight.

Orlando City’s last performance did lack the above-mentioned ‘fight’, as they went down 4-1 away at in-form New England. The hosts lead at the break 1-0 thanks to an early goal and soon added to their tally in the second half through Penilla. New England added a third and then a fourth in the space of fifteen second-half minutes to lead 4-0, and despite Akindele pulling a goal back for Orlando City in the seventy-seventh minute, the damage had already been done.

Dallas and Real Salt Lake played out a very evenly matched ninety minutes at the Toyota Stadium which saw the possession split 50/50 and saw both teams create a handful of genuine goal-scoring opportunities. Fittingly the match ended goalless and both teams shared the spoils but both teams will have been disappointed that they didn’t do enough to sneak a victory.

The head to head record between these two sides and the form and performances of both clubs over the last month all suggests that we won’t see both teams score on Sunday and that the most likely result is a narrow win for Dallas. Dallas have won four of their previous five matches against Orlando City and both teams have scored in just one of the pair’s five previous meetings. Orlando City have lost their last two matches and their last two home games have failed to see both teams score. Both teams have scored in just one of Dallas’ last six matches, which is why we’re backing a 1-0 win for the visitors this weekend.

Nani leads the way for Orlando City with eight league goals this season, while Badji and Ferreira joint top score for Dallas with six MLS goals apiece. We’re confident that we won’t see both teams score on Sunday and have predicted a final scoreline of 1-0 in favour of Dallas. The visitors have a great record against their hosts and have kept four clean sheets in their last six matches, while Orlando City have lost their last two games and failed to score in their last home game which also ended 1-0.
