PSV Reserves vs FC Utrecht Reserves Predictions

Jong Utrecht gained their first ever win over Jong PSV with a 3-2 success at Sportpark De Westmaat back in September, but the formbook and league table suggest that Dennis Haar’s men should turn the tables convincingly in this Friday’s clash at De Herdgang. The hosts are 5th in Eerste Divisie after winning nine of their last 15 games, whilst the visitors sit bottom of the standings and head to Eindhoven on a miserable run of nine straight defeats.

After a 0-2 reversal against leaders Twente and a 2-2 draw with 6th placed Roda JC, Jong PSV resumed winning ways on match day 27 as goals from Mauro Junior and Lennard Daneels wrapped up a 0-2 victory away to strugglers Helmond Sport.

The result extended PSV’s unbeaten stretch on the road to nine outings and increased their advantage over closest reserve team rivals Jong Ajax to six points going into the last 11 matches of the campaign.

Dennis Haar’s charges should now have enough in hand to finish best of the reserve sides this term following Jong Ajax’s title triumph in 2017/18, and they will be desperate to replicate the likely success of the first team, who are five points clear from Ajax at the head of affairs in Eredivisie.

Haar’s side return to De Herdgang this week and they are rated heavy odds on favourites to put another three points on the board against Jong Utrecht, despite being shocked by Robin Pronk’s team on match day four.

That upset means little in the context of things as it came amidst a really poor start to the season for Jong PSV who have since gone from strength to strength, whilst Utrecht have deteriorated at a great rate of knots.

The hosts have been a model of consistency since November with 31 points amassed from their last 15 games (nine wins, four draws, two defeats), and the gulf between these sides is fairly obvious when you consider that Jong Utrecht have picked up just eight points over the same period.

The visitors have now lost nine on the spin after going down 0-1 at home to Telstar last week (a team that were in search of their first victory in nine outings) and Utrecht’s only real ambition from here on in is to stave off the wooden spoon at the expense of Helmond Sport, with the sides six points detached from everyone else in the second tier.

This contest pits the division’s best attack vs worst defence (Jong PSV have netted 60 goals in 27 games whilst Jong Utrecht have shipped 63 in 27) and the hosts could really run up a big score in Eindhoven on Friday.

The handicap market is definitely the area to focus on, with Jong PSV extremely short in the betting, and we’re recommending that you get behind Dennis Haar’s troops minus a two goal start, alongside a 4-0 correct score prediction.
