PSV Reserves vs Twente Predictions

Following Den Bosch’s 0-0 stalemate at Jong AZ on Friday evening, Eerste Divisie leaders Twente have the chance to go eight points clear at the top of the table when they square off against Jong PSV at De Herdgang this Monday. This will be a difficult fixture for the Enschede club, with 5th placed Jong losing just one of their last nine outings, but Twente will be hard to stop it turning in a similar performance to last week’s 0-3 success at Sparta Rotterdam.

Marino Pusic’s side arguably turned in their best display of the campaign at Het Kasteel, securing three massive points well before the hour mark, thanks to strikes from Tom Boere, Peet Bijen and an own goal from Bart Vriends.

The result all but batted Sparta out of the title race, and in turn extended Twente’s advantage at the head of affairs to six points following Den Bosch’s 1-1 draw at home to Volendam.

And with The Blue White Dragons failing to see off Jong AZ in Alkmaar this Friday, Twente can go eight points in front this Monday if they can bag their ninth consecutive league victory against Jong PSV.

Twente edged the reverse fixture 2-1 at De Grolsch Veste back in late September, and as expected, they’re slight favourites to beat Dennis Haar’s charges again here based on their impeccable form and near flawless away record.

Twente have amassed 29 points from a possible 36 on the road which is the best ratio in the second tier by some distance, and they’ve won their last six on their travels after a cosy 0-2 triumph at MVV three weeks ago.

Jong PSV will present their stiffest test for some time however, with the hosts also in tremendous nick following three successive victories.

Last week’s 1-2 win against FC Eindhoven was a fine effort from Haar’s side after going a goal down at Jan Louwers Stadion early on, and the result made it six wins, two draws and just one defeat in total from their last nine.

They comfortably beat Oss 3-1 in their last match at De Herdgang a fortnight ago, but they have lost two of their last seven in Eindhoven (0-1 vs Den Bosch, 1-2 vs Cambuur) which suggests they’ll be vulnerable to Twente again if the visitors play like they have done over the past few weeks.

Jong can usurp Sparta for 4th place once again if they manage to overcome the leaders this Monday night, but we can’t oppose the champions elect who could easily put the automatic promotion race to bed with a few more victories over the next month or so.

The hosts have netted in all but two of their 24 league games this term, which makes a Twente win and both teams to score extremely tempting, but Mario Pusic’s men have kept three consecutive clean sheets on the road which is enough to deter us from this as our main wager.

So we’re instead playing with a straight bat and simply backing the leaders to win the match, but 1-2 is our predicted scoreline for those who fancy a flutter in the correct score market.
