San Martin De San Juan vs Huracan Predictions

Saturday’s Superliga Argentina sees relegation threatened San Martin de San Juan doing battle with Huracan. The visitors arrive looking to claim their first three points of the new campaign.

San Martin have made a decent enough start in their quest to avoid relegation to the second tier, taking 5 points from their opening 3 matches, but El Verdinegro still find themselves joint-occupying the final relegation spot with Belgrano on the average points table used to demote side to the B Nacional at the end of the season.

For the hosts to survive, they’re going to have to have a very strong campaign and while their start has at least been promising, they were fortunate to draw at Belgrano and have thus far faced three direct rivals for relegation, with Patronato and Tigre their other opponents, meaning they’ve not had to face the likes of a Huracan outfit that finished last season 4th on the Superliga standings so far.

The visitors will be hard pressed to match said effort but having kept hold of boss Gustavo Alfaro and made some smart additions to compensate for the loss of Ignacio Pussetto, Globo fans are hopeful of seeing their team put in another strong campaign.

It’s not been an easy start for Huracan, and whilst defeat at Aldosivi last time out in the road was disappointing, they’ve shown their strength by more than matching two of the best teams in the division, drawing 0-0 at home to both River and Boca. As encouraging as the showings were against the two giants, the visitors have just two points on the board and they’ll want to start winning sooner rather than later.

Ultimately, although San Martin are scrapping for their Superliga lives, that’s something we can envisage Huracan doing here. Man for man, they are clearly a superior outfit to San Martin in all areas and will be hoping to demonstrate that on the pitch come Saturday.

Best value looks set to be found in backing the visitors on the Draw No Bet line and that’s exactly where our money is going. Huracan have been an extremely difficult team to beat under Alfaro and indeed, they only lost 4 of their 14 away games last season, whilst winning 6 of said outings. Huracan have also beaten San Martin 1-0 away from home in each of the last two seasons and that’s a scoreline we envisage being repeated once again for what would be Huracan’s fourth consecutive win over the Sanjuaninos.
