Can Sevilla kick start their season?

It’s been a horrific start for Sevilla, who have picked up just one point from three matches, that coming in a home draw with Real Valladolid, sandwiched in between away defeats to Almeria and Osasuna.

Julen Lopetegui’s side also had a dismal end to the 2021/22 campaign, where, despite not losing too many, they managed only two wins from their last 12.

That means there’s pressure on his shoulders heading into this fixture, but he receives no comfort from a head-to-head record with Barcelona that reads no victory in 13 league meetings.

Barca have hit the ground running

Barcelona meanwhile drew their opening game with Rayo Vallecano (0-0), but have since won 4-1 at Real Sociedad and beaten Real Valladolild 4-0.

Xavi’s side have been incredibly strong on the road, winning eight of their last ten away league games, and are in fact unbeaten on their travels in La Liga since he took charge at the back end of 2021.

What makes them particularly enticing is their goal scoring ability, with Barca netting at least twice in seven of their last nine away La Liga fixtures.
