Toronto FC vs New York Red Bulls Predictions

The form of both of these teams have been inconsistent over the last few weeks and both will be looking to pick up three points on Thursday as they hope to strengthen their chances of claiming a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference this season.

Toronto made the trip to Montreal last weekend where a tight and tense first half saw the pair head in goalless at the interval. Toronto didn’t see much of the ball in the second half but managed to open the scoring through Pozuelo in the sixty-first minute. As time ticked away and the home side threw more men forward in search of an equaliser the visitors launched another counter-attack and sealed their victory with a second goal via American international Altidore.

New York RB played host to local rivals New York City last time out where an early goal from Heber put the visitors in front. However, a first-half stoppage-time penalty from Royer saw the pair head in level at the break and the very same player put New York RB in front with what turned out to be the winning goal. On the balance of play, a draw would have been the fair result but New York City’s poor run against the Red Bulls continues.

The recent head to head record between these two clubs and the performances of both sides over the last month or so, all points towards a double chance bet on New York RB being the best bet on Thursday. New York RB have won their last three matches against Toronto, each of those victories have been accompanied by a clean sheet, and New York RB have won 17, drawn 7, and only lost 9 of their 33 matches against the Canadians. Under 2.5 goals have been scored in each of Toronto’s last three matches and New York RB have only lost one of their last four MLS games, which is why we’re backing a 1-0 win for the visitors on Thursday.

Pozuelo top scores for the hosts this season with eight MLS goals, while Royer leads the way for New York RB with seven league goals to his name. We’re confident that a double chance bet on New York RB will payout on Thursday and have predicted a 1-0 final scoreline. New York RB have won their last three games against Toronto and have outplayed their hosts so far this season but Toronto aren’t in bad form, which is why we’ve gone with the double chance bet rather than an outright win for New York RB.
