Fulham

Both Teams To Score - No

Reason for tip

Both teams have not scored in three of Wolves’ last four home Premier League games and the same is true for three of Fulham’s last five away league contests too. The Cottagers have failed to score on their last three visits to Molineux as well.

Wolverhampton 1-0

Reason for tip

Wolves have scored just two goals across their last three home games against Premier League opposition while Fulham have failed to score in three of their last five aways. A 1-0 Wolves win may be the outcome of a patient approach from the home side with set-piece situations more likely to produce the winner than open play moves.

Wolverhampton vs Fulham Predictions

  • Both teams have not scored in three of Wolves’ last four home Premier League games
  • Both teams have not scored in three of Fulham’s last five away league contests
  • Fulham have failed to score on their last three visits to Molineux (L3 D1)

Wolves lacking any likely scorers

Wolves’ lack of attacking options could make for a tight, low-scoring affair against Fulham on Saturday. Gary O’Neil is without both his 11-goal top scorers Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-chan through injury while Pedro Neto, who leads the way with 10 assists, also came off with a problem at Newcastle last weekend.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde was pressed into an attacking role at St James’ Park, where Wolves wilted just a few days after a draining FA Cup tie against Brighton. The Molineux men will be revitalised after a week off and should be much tougher to break down in front of their own fans.

Wolves have kept clean sheets in two of their last four home games, albeit against two of the current bottom five, and have the nous not to get caught out on the counter attack — Fulham’s greatest weapon lately.

Fulham reliant on counter attacks away from home

Marco Silva’s men thrashed Brighton 3-0 last weekend to make it three wins in their last four games. They are now just three points behind the Old Gold as they chase a higher finish than last season’s 10th place.

But Fulham have lost five of their last seven away Premier League contests and cannot rely on Wolves making the same mistakes Manchester United did when they picked up a rare road win at Old Trafford last month.

Molineux is also not a happy hunting ground for the Cottagers, who have lost three and drawn one of their last four visits and failed to score each time.

Monotonous match on the cards

Wolves have won five of their last eight home league games and lost only once in that span, but it is risky to back them to take all three points here because of the injury problems they have up front.

O’Neil blew his top after Wolves lost 3-2 at the Cottage earlier this season, so incensed was he at the penalty decisions that went against his side. He will have probably reflected that Wolves were too open in that game and that patience will be the key to success this time around.

Therefore, the odds of both teams not finding the back of the net in this clash appeal more than anything else. Only Arsenal and Manchester City have conceded fewer goals than Fulham in the last eight games, so they can also play their part in making this a much more monotonous match.
