      Wolves vs Southampton Predictions

After their excellent 7th place finish in the Premier League last season, Wolves had a tumultuous start to the 2019/20 campaign. They failed to win their opening six league matches as they battled with the demands of an early start to the season in the Europa League.

A 2-0 win over the dreadful Watford brought their winless start to an end though, and they followed that with an absolutely stunning result before the international break. They managed to beat Manchester City 2-0 at the Etihad, skyrocketing their confidence ahead of a crucial period of the season.

Much of Wolves’ success last season stemmed from their excellent defensive rigidity, but unfortunately for the Molineux faithful that seems to have been lost over the summer. They have conceded in five of their 8 league games so far, shipping 11 goals in total.

Southampton, who spent the first half of last season desperately searching for a way to score goals, will be keen to take advantage of this leaky back line. Ralph Hasenhuttl has abolished the Saints’ fear of finding the net and has seen his team score in 27 of his 32 Premier League matches in charge.

This newfound attacking flair has unsurprisingly improved results, but equally unsurprising is the decline in defensive statistics. Southampton have only kept two clean sheets in their last 15 league outings, and they’re facing a Wolves side that haven’t failed to score in the top flight since the opening day of the season.

All things considered, backing Both Teams to Score on Saturday looks an excellent option, but apart from that we’re also expecting a Wolves win. The hosts have now won each of their last three competitive games, and Southampton are in the midst of a downturn in form right now.

Hasenhuttl’s men have lost their last three matches and conceded nine goals in this period, so confidence is low for the travelling team. With Wolves scoring exactly two goals in half of their league games this season, a 2-1 correct score prediction looks good value for money.
