Yeovil Town vs Stockport Predictions

On paper, a clash between a side which is well established in the Football League and a side who are in the National League North would favour only one side, however, this weekend’s clash between Yeovil Town and Stockport County is not your standard tie. The hosts are in pretty poor shape and with the visitors looking like they are at the peak of their powers at the moment, so the chances of an upset appear to be pretty high.

Yeovil Town will have had a huge boost to their confidence midweek as they saw off West Ham United’s under 21 side in the controversial Checkatrade Trophy, but their form prior to that match left little to be desired. The hosts had previously managed to win just one of their previous 10 outings, a 1-0 win away at an inconsistent Carlisle United, and with just eight goals scored over the same 10 matches, it is easy to see why.

For the majority of their history, Stockport County have been a side well established in the Football League, but following years of mis-management they dropped into regional football and off the radar of many English fans. However, they have stabilised of late and they come into this weekend’s fixture in excellent shape. County are undefeated in their previous 10 matches and with seven of those matches resulting in them walking away with the win, there is every reason for them to be confident of booking their spot in the next round of the FA Cup come 5pm Saturday.

With the gap in the divisions between these two sides, the bookies have clearly thought the superior quality in the Yeovil side will be enough to see them through. However, we are not as confident in this prediction and we plan to take full advantage of the generous odds on offer. We think that backing Stockport to gain a positive result on the double chance market represents the best opportunity for a decent return.
