It may only be gameweek two of the 2022/23 Premier League campaign but we may already have seen the shortest price of the season as Bournemouth face an unenviable trip north to the Etihad on Saturday.

The reigning Premier League champions and odds-on title favourites Manchester City are a ridiculous 1/16 to get the three points against many people’s relegation candidates, making the Win-Draw-Win market an unappealing option for bettors.

But there are ways to boost those odds if you’re looking for a way to back Pep Guardiola’s side to win.

Make sure to check out our Man City vs Bournemouth prediction for all our detailed analysis, too.

Man City -3 on the handicap at 6/4

Bournemouth are the bookies favourites to finish bottom this season and the last side to finish bottom – Norwich – lost both their games against Manchester City by more than three goals last season.

The Canaries shipped nine goals and scored none in these two games, the first of which coincidentally came in gameweek two of the season. Watford also lost by more than a three-goal margin against the Cityzens, making it three out of six matches against newly promoted teams to beat the -3 handicap.

Those were three of eight times Manchester City won by four or more goals, five of which came at the Etihad and four of which came in their final six games of the 2021/22 season.

It’s entirely possible Saturday could be a cricket score.

Man City over 3.5 team goals at 11/10

If you’re not convinced by a Manchester City clean sheet for the handicap bet you can still back them to bag a bunch of goals at a shade over evens.

Guardiola’s side smashed four or more goals in 12 times in the Premier League last season, including in both fixtures against Norwich.

Nine of these came in the last 23 games of the season and five came in the last 11 at home, while Bournemouth shipped 65 goals in their last Premier League season.

Erling Haaland to score 2 or more at 8/5

Erling Haaland announced his arrival to the Premier League in emphatic fashion last weekend with a brace against West Ham and you can back the Norwegian marksman to bag another couple of goals at 8/5 with bet365.

Haaland, who once scored nine goals in a single match for Norway U20, has scored twice or more in 15 of his 37 competitive starts for club and country since the start of last season.

He also netted three hat-tricks, and backing him to make it four is priced at 11/2.

Man City to win at Erling Haaland to score first at 15/8

If you fancy hedging your bets a little, you can back Haaland to just find the net along with a City win at a favourable-looking 15/8.

Haaland has scored 24 of his 37 starts since the beginning of last season and netted 44 goals in total, while his new club won all six of their Premier League meetings with newly-promoted clubs last season.
